In this studio the students showed great curiosity and inventiveness. Through hands-on model making, mapping, critical analysis, and drawing techniques the students honed their creative problem-solving skills. The class concluded with a final architectural design where the students were asked to deploy their new abilities – a new state-of-the-art Maritime Museum for the city of Vancouver.
PROJECT BRIEF
The Maritime Museum of Vancouver has outgrown their current building and are looking to move into a new, state-of-the-art building on this site. To help pay for the new iconic Museum, the Maritime Museum will develop a residential development on the site in addition to their cultural building. The site is located between 1st Ave and the Sea wall along the side of the Cambie Street bridge. The site is one of the last undeveloped areas in False Creek and includes Habitat Island and Hinge Park.
A big thank you to the students for their energy and enthusiasm.
