"Sleeping Souls-Maritime Museum Site Plan" / Final Design Strategy (Site Plan) / Felt and coloured markers / "The design concept is inspired by the symbolic meaning of orcas in Canadian Indigenous culture and the history of Chinatown. In order to honour Canadian Indigenous people and Chinese-Canadians in the past, I decided to combine the two--putting two orcas into a Yin-Yang position."

"Design concept for Maritime Museum-Orca" / Design Concept / Pencils / "In Canadian Indigenous culture, orcas mean everlasting strength and bonds, living in harmony. It is believed that orcas are the souls of drowned humans in the past. And in ancient Chinese culture, Yin-Yang refers to the concept of dualism where opposite forces are seen as interconnected and counterbalancing."
Museum Programming-West Wing (1st and 2nd floor) / Felt and coloured markers / "The West wing of the museum is intended for people to both relax and work, consisting of offices and food courts. Special private bathrooms are added for breastfeeding and child care, creating a safe space for parents and their children."
Museum Programming-East Wing (1st and 2nd floor) / Felt and coloured markers / "The lobby is located on the East wing of the museum, and the exhibition zones are on the second floor. Resting areas are near the windows, having a better view of the courtyard. Both first floors of the museum are connected with a courtyard, and so people can travel through the East and West wing.."
