Takaya Maynard
Artist Bio
Takaya Maynard is a 17 year old multidisciplinary artist from Whistler BC, Canada. While navigating her way through the art and design world she has been awarded 3 Graphic design awards along with a few opportunities to showcase her work through school exhibits. She finds solace by being in nature, taking photographs and exploring different mediums in art such as music, painting, and videography. Growing up in the mountains she has been immersed in the ski, bike and skate culture of Whistler from a young age, and seeks to combine athleticism, nature and art. She’s also deeply influenced by the surf culture of Tofino, Oregon and Southern California as her family originates from California and has their roots deeply embedded in the West Coast.
Purity
This collection of photographs is a work in progress, intended to showcase people passionately pursuing the sports that bring them joy and happiness. The dress symbolizes complete freedom, elegance and escape, and white is a symbol of purity, beginnings, positivity and spirituality. In a chaotic, face-paced world, we all seek balance and regulation, and many of us find this through sports we’ve grown to love and in nature. Growing up in Whistler, I've been fortunate to be exposed to a variety of invigorating sports, and incredible natural beauty that is grounding.
