Advertising illustration / Rei / 9.1 in x 12.2 in / Paper, watercolor / "I create my clothing brand, I named it Rei, that is a Japanese name that means confidence and independence (depending on the traductions), that's why I tried to make these characters with confident looks with bright and warm colors that call the attention and make the "customer" feel good. Also, I made a woman and a man, because Rei is a unisex name."
Book Cover / The absolute guide to being popular by the coolest fruits / 9 in x 12 in / Paper, black ink, gold ink, acrylic gouache, crayon color, watercolor, marker. / "This is a “love yourself" style book for children (with a little bit of comedy of course), I choose these fruits (tomato, guava, and papaya) because in my country (Mexico) these are the most hated fruits by all children, even now I still don't like these fruits (I even know adults that doesn't like them!)"
Comic / Adventures with the Manjarrez’ / 9.1 in x 12.2 / Markers and black ink. / "I could only make a good page, but this is a little introduction to an idea I had, a comic that tells the absurd adventures that I have with my cousins. Since the arrival of COVID19 in Mexico I can't see my cousins in person and travel with them, I miss them a lot, even do we talk by messages and zoom, it's not the same than before, my cousins are important for me, as an only child, I see them as my sisters and I love being with them, that's why I choose them for the protagonist roles in this story."
Editorial illustration / What’s your excuse? / 9 in x 12 in / Paper, acrylic gouache / "I wanted to represent a big issue from my country, it represents the dangers of Mexican teenage girls every time they go back from school to their homes, hearing offensive sexual comments about their bodies, or even worst, the worst part is that some adults say things like "I did that because she was dressing inappropriately" so they can save themselves from their crimes, but the thing is that almost all Mexican students need to wear a uniform (no matter the school, almost the 90% have their school uniform) and there is no way they can use that kind of excuses against teenagers, I made this illustration for an imaginary article that explores this issue because I believe this is an issue we need to discuss so we can resolve it."
Genre Poster / Love is everywhere / 9.1 in x 12.2 in / Paper, watercolor, markers / "Love breaks everything like water, passes through everything it can, and takes the shape it can". Love is a funny feeling, you can find it in every strange and unusual circumstance, the love of a parent you can find it in a teacher or a big sibling or discussing more couple love, you can find it without caring about religion or genre, that's what a wanted to represent on this project."
Portraiture / Myself / 9.1 in x 12.2 in / Watercolor, crayon color / "For this assignment, I had to make a cartoon portrait that represented me, but I didn't want to show just my physical me I wanted to show a deeper me, the skull with the snake and feathers, represents Mexico, where I was born and I live, showing the beauty of the day of the deaths and the representative animals of my flag, the skeleton creature under the skull, it's a representation of myself negatively, with all my bad emotions and thoughts, such as anger and sadness, the black cloud that comes from the monster, represents all those bad feelings and emotions, when the black cloud it's touched by the dog (my dog) the negative thoughts transform into positive ones, I always like to spend time with my dog when I feel insecure and sad, she always makes me think positive after I played a little bit with her, this artwork represents my culture, my hobbies, and my interest."
Spot illustration / The cool fruits / 12.2 in x 9.1 in / Watercolor and black ink / "Here is a little illustration of the rejected fruits, it shows how these fruits think they're popular or at least they try to be popular. The guava is the most insecure of them because, in real life, guavas have a really strong smell that causes children don't like them, the papaya is always trying to be strong but inside is soft and very sweet, meanwhile, the tomato is the less hated fruit for children, that's why is the most confident and friendly from the group."
